UNCRC Child’s Right Defenders 2023
On Sunday 5th February, two young people and staff from Include Youth set off in the early hours to make the trip to Swizterland.
Geneva hosted United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child conference which explored how these rights are implemented and what could be better.
A lot of preparation was done behind the scenes along with other young people from Northern Ireland Youth Forum, VOYPIC and Children’s Law Centre.
After gathering their passes and being immersed in the Swiss culture, young people had the opportunity to go before the UN committee and
share their voice about children’s rights in Northern Ireland and what change we want to see happen.
It was an unforgettable trip with all the young people involved doing an amazing job at raising issues that were important to them.
There is power in young people telling us how they feel their rights are not being met. Hearing what works and what doesn’t so our Government can learn and do better.
