Local charities, Include Youth and VOYPIC, hosted a vibrant Cultural Celebration at their youth space at 100 Great Patrick Street (100GPS) on Friday 20 March.
The event marked the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, while also recognising the many different cultures that make up the community. The Deputy Mayor, Paul Doherty, attended and joined in the celebrations.
The Cultural Celebration Event was a lively and engaging occasion, featuring a range of performances, food, and activities that highlighted diverse cultural traditions. Guests enjoyed Irish dancing performed by Owens Academy, Downpatrick, and a delicious lunch provided by Artseka, which showcased a variety of cultural flavours, including vegetable cutlets, dolma, papadums, potato curry, and butter chicken.
Guests were invited to enjoy beautiful henna tattoos, provided by Artseka, and to take part in an energetic drum circle. They also enjoyed a performance from an Irish traditional band, bringing people together through a shared experience of music and movement.
Young people had the opportunity to learn about a variety of cultural traditions in a fun and engaging environment. The event helped to foster understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural diversity within the community.
The event was funded by the Education Authority and was held in the charities’ dedicated youth space at 100GPS, 100 Great Patrick Street, Belfast.
