We're building relationships with business to improve job opportunities for young people.

'Would your workplace benefit from a FREE helping hand?' We are keen to hear from any organisation in any sector in any area across Northern Ireland that would benefit from the assistance of a group young volunteers. Our staff support the young people and there is no cost to you.

Information for Employers

Young people on the Give & Take Scheme are always looking for opportunities to develop their employability skills through hands-on volunteering opportunities in their local area. It is of no cost to the employer and Include Youth staff will fully support the young people throughout. If you have an opportunity that both you and a group of eager young volunteers would benefit from, please email Jacinta@includeyouth.org

Include Youth works to develop relationships with employers that can offer mutually beneficial opportunities to our well-prepared, inspirational and motivated young people.

Employers can get involved through the Give and Take Scheme or our employability work with the Health and Social Care Trusts.

In Northern Ireland the educational and economic attainment of care leavers is low in comparison to other young people, often because of a disruptive family life or other complex needs.

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety’s (DHSSPS) publication- ‘NI Care Leavers Aged 16-18 Statistical Bulletin 2009/2010’, published 11 March 2011, records that:

  • 20 per cent of care leavers had been subject to a Statement of Special Educational Need while attending school, compared with four per cent of the general school population

  • 17 per cent of care leavers obtained five GCSEs (grades A*- C) or higher compared with 70 per cent of general school leavers

  • 43 per cent of care leavers left school with no qualifications, compared with two per cent of general school leavers

  • 39 per cent of care leavers were either unemployed or economically inactive

To redress this balance care leavers therefore need additional support so that they too can enjoy the same life chances in training and employment as their peers who have not been in care.

If employers want to know more about simple ways they can support these young people, their local community or further develop their corporate social responsibility, please contact our Employability Team for more information.
