Personal development activities provide young people with the opportunity to be involved in positive social contact in a non-threatening environment.
Personal Development
Personal development involves a variety of informal and formal social educational activities, including: regular drop-ins; assertiveness training; drug and alcohol awareness; relationships; sexual health; sexuality; independent living skills; identity; gender awareness; and cross community issues.
Young people are supported to explore the wider issues impinging on their lives.
As well as undertaking formal work in areas such as gender awareness and cross community issues; a flexible programme structure is provided that can respond quickly to the needs of young people. These might involve helping an individual to resolve a crisis situation, or participating in a shared group work or leisure activity.
We aim to build the self-esteem of young people through this process as well as improve a young person’s cooperation skills through the provision of team building activities.
Personal development activities provide young people with the opportunity to be involved in positive social contact in a non-threatening environment.
Earlier this year one of the young people from the Give & Take Scheme in Armagh wrote and sang 'Listen to Me' as part of a 'Making Music' workshop.
